At St Mary’s we have an exceptional record of academic success.
The foundation for learning starts in Charlton House Nursery, where carefully designed play provides the best conditions for the introduction of reading, writing and number work.
Charlton House, the junior department of St Mary’s, offers everything to stimulate the developing child: the right atmosphere for growing minds, with small class sizes, music and drama rooms, plus up-to-date computer facilities. An emphasis is placed on both English and Numeracy, through the appreciation and use of English and the understanding and enjoyment of arithmetic. We believe in separate subject teaching, so History, Geography, Music, Technology, Science, Art and Craft, and Religion all form part of our core curriculum. Children enjoy specialist teachers for Music, French, PE/Games and swimming for upper juniors.

Our gym opens out onto delightful playing fields, providing a secure campus within the magnificent grounds of St Mary’s College. We also have plenty of extra-curricular activities – including music, sport, Outward Bound and overseas trips – to stimulate and challenge young pupils, helping them to live and work together, preparing them for senior school.
