At Charlton House we enjoy making, listening to and appreciating music.

Music is taught throughout the school as an integral part of the curriculum. Lessons give the pupils the opportunity to experiment with vocal and instrumental sounds and colour, and to develop an awareness of the vast scope of the subject.

Children in years 4-6 may join the choir which performs in concerts and services throughout the year and is involved in an annual production with a strong musical framework. These events give the children the opportunity to perform in front of their peers and parents, and further their knowledge of music in practice.

Students are taken to concerts outside school when the opportunity arises. In November this year we went to the Royal Albert Hall to a Schools Prom Concert where the children could listen to the best sounds from school bands and orchestras.

Pupils are also encouraged to take up instrumental lessons (brass, piano, woodwind, guitar) and it is hoped that gradually we can build up a small orchestra
